My Sister Planned a Lie Detector Contest for My Fiancé and Me at My Wedding—the Wedding Was Canceled After Taking It

My wedding day was supposed to be the happiest day of my life, but instead, it turned into a complete nightmare—all thanks to my sister’s twisted idea of a “fun” surprise. What was meant to be a joyous occasion ended with the wedding being canceled right then and there, and I can honestly say I’ll never look at my sister the same way again.

The Uninvited Surprise

My sister, Amanda, had always been the type to seek attention, often stirring up drama where there wasn’t any. But when she insisted she had planned a special surprise for my fiancé, Jake, and me on our wedding day, I foolishly assumed it was something sweet—maybe a heartfelt speech or a sentimental slideshow of our childhood memories.

What I didn’t expect was a lie detector contest.

Yes, a real polygraph machine, a hired examiner, and a room full of our family and friends watching as my sister announced that Jake and I would be taking turns answering “fun” and “revealing” questions before saying our vows.

I was stunned. Who does that at a wedding?

Amanda laughed, saying it was “just a game” and a way to ensure we were starting our marriage with complete honesty. I was horrified, but before I could protest, the guests cheered, and Jake, ever the people-pleaser, shrugged and agreed to go along with it.

So, against my better judgment, I sat down first.

The Test That Changed Everything

At first, the questions were harmless. “Do you really love Jake?” Yes. “Are you only marrying him for money?” No. The machine confirmed I was telling the truth, and everyone clapped.

Then, it was Jake’s turn.

Amanda smirked as she read the next question: “Have you ever cheated on my sister?”

Jake’s face paled. He let out a nervous chuckle, then confidently answered, “No.”

The examiner glanced at the results, then hesitated.

“Lying,” he said.

The room fell completely silent.

The Devastating Truth

I turned to Jake, my heart pounding. “Is this a joke?” I whispered.

Jake’s eyes darted around the room, looking for an escape. Then, as if realizing there was no way out, he stammered, “It—it wasn’t serious. It was just one time, a long time ago.”

Gasps filled the room. My vision blurred with tears.

“Who?” I managed to ask, my voice barely above a whisper.

And that’s when Amanda’s smirk disappeared.

Jake hung his head. “Amanda.”

A collective gasp spread through the crowd, followed by complete chaos. My sister turned red, trying to defend herself, but it was too late. The damage had been done.

I stood up, ripped the veil off my head, and walked straight out of my own wedding. The event was over.

Aftermath

I called off the wedding that day. Jake tried apologizing, but there was no coming back from this. As for Amanda? She begged for forgiveness, claiming it was a “drunken mistake” from years ago.

I cut them both out of my life.

Turns out, the lie detector was a great idea—just not in the way Amanda had planned.
